Letter Writing
In Writing we have been learning to: Write a formal letter.
We have followed the writing process and have planned and drafted a formal letter.
Here is a link to our online Modelling book.
This shows the process that we have followed.
Here is the letter that I have written ( Link the draft of your letter here)
Here is my reflection on the letter writing that we have done.
One thing that I found challenging about writing formal letters was to always use punctuation in your writing
My next step is: look for more opportunities to put my letter writing knowledge into practice in the future.

Current Events Term 2, 2017
I can successfully research a current event.
- Year ⅚ : I can locate and summarise ideas by skimming or scanning, by identifying key words, topic sentences, and key questions, or by using subheadings
Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read. After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.
Here is some evidence of my learning.
My Next Step is to continue to apply the reading and research skills that I have learned in a variety of other areas.
For reading over the past five weeks I have been focussing on:
I can monitor my reading for accuracy and sense, demonstrating that I have the confidence to adjust my reading (e.g., by varying the speed of reading, by rereading, and by attending to the most important information) when I encounter difficulties.
And
I can make connections between my prior knowledge and the concrete examples in a text in order to understand abstract ideas in the text.
During this time, I have been reading with the teacher and also using an online tool called Read Theory to help practice these skills.
My two favorite texts I read were:
-
The Berlin Wall because it was quit fascinating

careers writing.
In CAREERS EDUCATION we have been learning to write a skills based Curriculum Vitae.
A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have, rather than our work history.
Here is a link to our online Modelling Book that shows the process we have followed.
Three things that I have learned about writing a Curriculum Vitae are:
- If you did not have a C.V. you would have a successful job
- it tells the person all about you
Here is a link to my Skills based Curriculum Vitae. (Link your C.V. here)

In Maths we have been using to: Use a coordinate system or the language of distance and direction to specify locations and describe paths.
In Maths we have been using to: Use a coordinate system or the language of distance and direction to specify locations and describe paths.
EVIDENCE of my learning.
Here are some screenshots to show the IXL activities I have completed.
You can find evidence of my extended abstract problem solving tasks in my Maths Book.
The Figure it out activities that I completed were called:
- Going the distance
- Clara’s Cowpats
My next step is to continue to apply what I have learned in a range of problem solving activities.
